In 2009, Lower Kiski Emergency Services absorbed the former Lower Burrell Fire Department Water Team. The incorporation of the Water Team was a natural expansion into the broad range of emergency services offered by our organizations. In 2011, the Lower Kiski Water/Dive Rescue Teams became an integral part of Armstrong County Team 340 Water Rescue Task Force, which brought together a variety of departments throughout Armstrong and Westmoreland counties, all to better support the water rescue needs of the two counties and region.
Lower Kiski's Water/Dive Rescue Teams are trained in swift water rescue, dive rescue/recovery, evidence recovery, boat operations, ice rescue and all facets of water operations.
Swift Water Rescue Team     | Public Safety Dive Team   ***************************************************** On January 26, 2012, eighteen members of Lower Kiski Emergency Services and personnel from Armstrong County Task Force 340 participated in a session on the Principles of Public Safety Diving offered by one of the Dive Team Members. The session included topics such as equipment, communications, safety protocols, methods, search patterns, risk reward analysis, evidence handling and a number of other topics. There was a tremendous amount of information that was made available to the attendees. The primary Goal of the Team that "Everyone Goes Home" was the focus of the presentation. |
